Robin Mucha

Born in Warwick, Rhode Island, Robin Mucha spent her formative years in Hudson, Ohio and moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1993. Her fascination with lines and surfaces of the natural world began early, collecting horseshoe crabs and skate cases near Point Judith. Robin received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University, her Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia College Chicago and studied art history in Florence and Rome, Italy. She furthered her studies at Anchor Graphics and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Mucha has previously been selected for artist residencies at The Ragdale Foundation for Artists and Writers in Lake Forest, Illinois. Her work is included in private collections in the United States, Brazil, Canada and India.

Mucha’s work can be traced to the imprint of significant personal experiences that connect her to surface and line. She finds inspiration through poetry, the sciences and her extensive travels to remote places throughout the world. Her fascination with international cultures feeds her work. As an interdisciplinary artist, Mucha investigates areas that often defy easy classification, as she synthesizes layers of materials and techniques. Mucha works with traditional and experimental materials rooted in printmaking, photography, painting and drawing.

Robin Mucha lives in Chicago and works out of her studio-laboratory in the historic landmark Fine Arts Building.
